National Psychology Week (NPW) aims to increase public awareness about psychology, psychological issues and the role psychologists play in community wellbeing through three distinct initiatives:
- Events, presentations and displays hosted by psychologists across Australia;
- A national research survey on a topic of community interest; and
- A national media campaign to assist public understanding of psychology.
Results of the 2010 national research survey will be released Sunday 14 November 2010. This year, the NPW survey is on the social and psychological impacts of social networking.
If you would like to receive NPW media releases and/or have a member of the APS media team contact you, please email media@psychology.org.au or telephone (03) 8662 3300.

Media enquiries and referral service at other times of the year
The APS connects journalists everyday with APS psychologists who are experienced in media relations. The media referral service features more than 200 APS psychologists from universities, government and non-government agencies, consulting firms, and private practices. These psychologists add psychological insight into popular culture and trends, and provide psychological expertise on human behaviour and relationships, as gained from evidence-based research and people's experiences.
If you are a journalist and would like to be put in touch with an APS psychologist, please call
+61 3 8662 3300 or email media@psychology.org.au.
If you are an APS member and would like to be involved in this service, please contact the APS on (03) 8662 3300. You will need to complete a media referral nomination form before being added to our database.
All other NPW enquiries should be directed to psychologyweek@psychology.org.au.
The APS also provides a psychologist referral service on 1800 333 497 or via the APS website: www.psychology.org.au.
The service puts the general public, GPs and other health professionals in touch with qualified psychologists from across Australia.
